Avatar, la leyenda de Aang es una serie animada estadounidense trasmitida por Nickelodeon, orientada en un mundo fantastico influenciado en gran medida por el continente Asiatico tanto con las artes marciales como con magia de elementos y el misticismo oriental.
Se situa en un mundo dividido en 4 naciones, la del fuego, la del aire, la de la tierra y la del agua, en cada nacion hay un grupo de personas llamadas maestros que tienen la capacidad de controlar su elemento nativo. Cuenta la historia que para mantener el balance y equilibrio entre los elementos,en cada generación hay una persona llamada Avatar, que es el espiritu encarnado del planeta, y que tiene la capacidad de controlar los 4 elementos. El Avatar reencarna constantemente en las distintas naciones siguiendo el ciclo (agua, tierra, fuego y aire) es decir,una vez que un Avatar muere, reencarna en la siguiente nacion del ciclo, desde tiempos inmemoriables.
Esta historia narra las aventuras de Aang, el sucesor de una larga serie de Avatares, y sus amigos: Katara una Maestra Agua, Sokka hermano de Katara y guerrero por naturaleza y más adelante en la serie Toph, además de sus dos animales, compañeros y mascotas de Aang, el bisonte volador Appa y el lemur Momo.
